Visit to the Bite Beauty Lab in Toronto + GIVEAWAY!

Hi beauties!

Happy Saturday but most importantly – Happy Canada Day to my fellow Canadian beauties!

A few weekends ago, my fiancé surprised me with a trip to the Toronto Bite Beauty Lab for my birthday – and to sum it up, I felt like I was in HEAVEN!

For anyone not familiar with Bite Beauty, they are a Canadian company that uses natural, edible and cruelty-free ingredients and specialise in lipstick.

Now, let me tell you about the experience. When you first enter, you’re greeted by an “Artist”. They sit you down and offer you a beverage, at only $7 for a glass of sparkling, white or red wine – that’s a steal for downtown Toronto!

Before getting started, Erica handed me their Whipped Cherry Lip Scrub and Agave Lip Mask so that my lips were smooth and hydrated prior to application.

My artist, Erica, asked me what I was looking for in my two shades. I explained that I wanted an everyday nude, “My Lips But Better”, I said. She knew exactly what I meant (But really, I was thinking more along the lines of my nipple shade. I know, you think I’m crazy, but read this article when you get a chance:

So many pigments!

The first attempt at my MLBB shade was a little too light and a little too brown in the undertone. I explained I wanted it to be slightly darker and more of a rose undertone. And you know what? Erica nailed it on the second try!

My second and last shade, I explained to Erica that I wanted to make my perfect shade for my upcoming wedding (November 2018). I wanted a deep merlot colour.

It took 3 attempts to make this one. The first attempt was a little too dark and too brown, the second attempt was a little too red, and the third one was just right – A deep merlot with a berry undertone.

L to R – “26” (AKA My Lips But Better shade) & “November”  (AKA My Wedding shade). Sadly, you can’t actually “name” your lipsticks in-store. Such a missed opportunity in my opinion!

Once Erica nailed down both colours, she went to the back where she mixed a larger version of each in these small plastic containers. She came back to the counter, melted them in a microwave, spun them in this super fancy machine to mix them, and then poured them into cold metal moulds.

Once cooled, Erica topped the lipsticks with my very own tubes engraved with my initials “J.P.” Overall, I am overjoyed with the experience, my fiance knows how to pick the best gifts! The whole process took just over an hour for 2 lipsticks.

From Top to Bottom: “26” – Cream Finish, Scented with Lime & Coconut. “November” – Satin Matte Finish, Scented with Cherry & Vanilla.

The only downside of this experience is obviously the cost, but now I have 2 unique shades of lipstick that no one else owns – totally worth it!
