Review: Quo Fall 2017 Collection

Hi Beauties,

As Fall is officially here, it’s time to switch up your makeup! Quo generously sent me their new Fall collection and I’ve been playing with the products ever since.

First of all, let’s talk about the packaging – it is STUNNING, totally my aesthetic, clearly. It feels so luxurious and high quality, and each palette comes with a mirror, which is a bonus. The collection has 2 face palettes, 2 eyeshadow palettes, 3 lipsticks, 1 brow kit and 3 nail polishes. I will review the ones I received.

Eyeshadow Palette in Evergreen

For the Fall, I’m definitely more of a warm-toned gal when it comes to eyeshadows. I love those warm copper/red/cranberry/orange shades, so I was surprised to see such a cool-toned palette equipped with a bronzy copper shade.

While the white shade and two grey shades applied rather chalky and patchy, the green and bronze shades are gorgeous. Here’s the look I created.

I was hoping the green would look as beautiful on the lid as it did on my arm swatch, but sadly, it took a lot of building up to get it to the opacity I wanted. I also smudged the copper shade on the bottom of my eye. Overall, I think this look turned out more Christmas/Holiday-y than what I had hoped. I would have loved to see more warm colours, but since I don’t have a green like this in my collection, I’ll be hanging on to it and will learn to work with it.

Face Palette in Warm Peach

I think this was my favourite item of the bunch. The bronzer is a perfect shade for my skin-tone, and isn’t too pigmented, which I appreciate for a bronzer. It blends like a dream so it doesn’t look muddy like a lot of bronzers are on my skin. The blush shades mixed together offered the perfect rose/mauve shade which I love for the Fall. The highlighter was a little more pink-toned than what I’m used to, but slightly blended onto the cheekbone offered a very natural looking highlight.

Brow Palette

I normally use a pencil only for my eyebrows, but I was excited to try this little kit. It only came in the one shade, which was a warm brown and a dark brown side by side. It was too warm-toned for my skin as you can see, but surprisingly, they were super pigmented and I was able to fill my brows without any pencil or pomade. I even used the little cream/wax on the inside to set them, which did a decent job of keeping my brows in place. However, I prefer the look of my every day pencil, so I don’t think I’d reach for this unless I ran out of my pencil.

Matte Lip Crayons in Brick and Chestnut

I love rocking a matte lip in the Fall, and these two shades are totally up my alley. The red shade looked a lot darker in the tube than on my lips, which was slightly disappointing. Overall, the formula is super creamy, but tough to work with. The nude shade was a perfect match for my skin-tone, but I felt it applied a little patchy and chalky. Both shades would benefit from a lip liner. Staying power is pretty decent, but you do need to re-apply after eating.

Quo by Orly Breathable Nail Lacquers in De-Stressed Denim &  Fairy Godmother

What’s unique about this nail polish collection is that the formula is a base, colour, top coat and treatment all in one. This is supposed to be a wonderful formula for your nails, allowing them to breath. While I don’t have swatches of the shades on my nails, they did last a decent amount of time on my nails, about 4 days before chipping. For reference, my nails are super brittle and peel, so I’m lucky if I can get 1 day without chipping.

Overall, the best part about this collection is the packaging. While I loved 2 out of 5 of the shadows and the face palette, the rest fell a little flat for my personal liking. The eyebrow kit isn’t something I would use every day, and I will only use the lip crayons with a lip liner underneath. The face palette is the real winner for me and I would recommend it to anyone, it will be fabulous for travelling with! I also love the nail polish and love the formula, I will be picking up the other shade from the collection for sure!

Have you tried any of these items from Quo’s Fall collection? What did you think?

Thanks for reading, and remember, you’re beautiful!

*I received these products free as Press/PR samples. All opinions are my own.
