Happy Sunday Beauties, and Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian followers – May your weekend be filled with deliciously dry turkey, flavourless stuffing and overcooked pumpkin pie (let’s be real, I love ALL of those things and they’re still somehow so yummy!)
As an aside, I decided to stop including the price that each sample is technically worth, simply because I’ve been finding a lot of samples haven’t been indicating the product size on them so it’s sometimes hard to guestimate, and also, I don’t think the worth of the sample is really indicative of the product itself – so – moving forward, I’ll be removing this part, but will still keep the full size price.
This week, I picked the following 5 samples:
Name: Sephora 10Hr Wear Perfection Foundation
Price: Full Size = $25.00 CAD
Review: First of all, I love most Sephora Collection products but have never tried any of their foundations. This little sample pack came with 3 shades, but I was only able to use the lightest shade, which was still too dark, so I mixed it with white drops. I tried to use the deeper shade as a contour but it was too warm for my skintone. Hard to say if this product has good coverage because I was limited with the amount in the sample, so I didn’t feel like it effectively covered my blemishes or dark circles. However, the staying power on this is pretty legit, and didn’t make me overly oily (I have oily skin).
Would I buy the full-size?: Yes, it’s a good price and I would like to try this in a shade that matches my skin more accurately.
Name: Eva-Nyc Purse Perfect Hair Towelette
Price: Full Size = $18.67 CAD (10 pack)
Review: This is a pretty unique concept, I’ve never heard of or seen any other brand come out with a towelette for hair. My first impression of this product is the scent, it smells so good, I want to bottle it up into a body lotion! The towelette itself felt dry, but as I ran it through my hair, you could tell some sort of oil was being deposited (and also left oil residue on my hands, which I just ran through my hair anyways). Overall, it left my hair looking and feeling smooth, shiny and silky!
Would I buy the full-size?: No – Simply because I don’t see myself needing a product like this on a regular basis. I could see this being good for an overnight bag to skip showering, but honestly, I live and die by Dry Shampoo and prefer that to this, however, this is a great product and may be awesome for you if you dislike dry shampoo!
Name: Glamglow Volcasmic Matte Glow Moisturizer
Price: Full Size = $64.00 CAD
Review: I’ve actually bought this product full-size before because I tried a sample when it first came out and loved it. This product is exactly what it claims: Matte Glow Moisturizer. It’s light, non-greasy, absorbs into the skin quickly, brightens the skin, almost acts as a smoothing primer, feels moisturizing AND keeps you matte throughout the day.
Would I buy the full-size?: I ran out of the full-size so I haven’t used it in months, but now that I’m reminded about how awesome this moisturizer is, I definitely will be picking it up again!
Name: Too Faced Hangover FX Primer
Price: Full Size = $40.00 CAD
Review: I know everyone is obsessed with this primer, so I was excited to try it. I’m not crazy about the smell to be honest, but a little goes a long way (the sample allowed me to use it literally all week!). I love the texture/formula, because it feels more like a moisturizer than the usual silicone-y primers out there. I like the overall texture, but it didn’t help my makeup from slipping around my nose, chin and eyes (this is typical but I try to find a primer that will ultimately reduce this effect).
Would I buy the full-size?: This was good but not worth the $40, so no.
Name: John Masters Organic Lavender Avocado Intensive Conditioner
Price: Full Size = $36.50 CAD
Review: I’m all about moisturizing conditioners, God knows I need it since my ends are so dry and split-y (That’s a word, right?). The scent of this conditioner is amazing, super herbal which I love. It made my hair feel soft but nothing outstanding or different from any other conditioner I’ve used. Maybe I would need to use it more to see a difference as it claims to strengthen hair and make it appear thicker and fuller.
Would I buy the full-size?: While I’m sure this is a great conditioner if used on a regular basis, because of the price, I’m going to have to say no.
That’s it! Have you tried any of the above products before? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
Remember, you’re beautiful!
