A few weeks ago, I was invited to the Being by Sanctuary Spa Canadian Launch.
You’re probably wondering, what’s Being? What’s Sanctuary Spa? Sanctuary Spa is a skincare brand that is very popular and well known in the UK. Read on below.
After speaking to the owner of the company at the event, through research, they found that Sanctuary Spa skewed to an older demographic, it was seen as a “mom” brand. With this in mind, “Being” was born, a no-bullshit beauty company catered to the every day millennial woman. Being prides themselves on being a line with no boundaries, fuck the conventional, break the norm, screw beauty standards, BE YOU.
This “fuck the conventional beauty standards” attitude what attracted me the most about their brand. If you look at some of their adverts, you see women of all shapes, colours and sizes, women who are usually misrepresented in the beauty community – It feels good to see plus size women (and other gorgeous women) strutting their stuff for a beauty brand!
I’ve got to say, this was one of the best launch parties I’ve been to – mind you, I haven’t been to a whole lot, but they had so much food and drinks floating around, amazing photo ops, plenty of products displayed for people to test out and play with – It was very well organized, thanks to Overcat Communications.
The product line is exclusively available at Shoppers Drug Mart in Canada (and I will assume Pharmaprix in Quebec). Prices range from $10.00 CAD to $20.00 CAD. The scents available are: Cloudberry & Lychee Blossom, Salted Caramel & Macadamia, Hibiscus & Coconut Water and Chilli Mango & Tonka Bean.
TL;DR This is a UK brand that just launched in Canada, available exclusively at Shoppers Drug Mart. They have a “fuck beauty standards” attitude, and all of their products are AMAZING!
Here are my thoughts on some of the products included in my goodie bag:
Body Lotion ($16 CAD)
The body lotion is light feeling, yet super moisturizing while absorbing quickly into the skin without feeling heavy and greasy. I also love the scent of the Cloudberry & Lychee Blossom line – It’s sweet and fresh, I will definitely pick up another “set” (Shower Gel & matching Lotion) once these two are done.
Shower Burst ($15 CAD)
This is such a unique product, to which Being holds a proprietary patent on. It looks like a shaving cream or hair mousse, but it’s actually shower gel! It comes out as a gel (looks just like a gel shaving cream) but after a few seconds, it starts to bubble and fizz! You’re left with a light feeling mousse-like texture that feels incredibly indulgent and moisturizing on the skin. You truthfully don’t even need to use body lotion afterwards because your skin feels so nourished! Love love love!
Hand Cream ($10 CAD)
Scent-wise, I’ve never been a HUGE fan of florals, however, paired with coconut water, I really don’t mind this scent. It has a very unique sweet floral (and almost slightly spicy) scent that is intoxicatingly addictive. The hand cream, like the body lotion, is light feeling but super moisturizing, fast absorption without feeling greasy on the hands. I will take one in every scent, please!
Body Scrub ($20 CAD)
This body scrub is so gentle, not super gritty and harsh like other body scrubs I’ve tried. It has a thinner gel-like consistency which I also find unique for a scrub. If you’re looking to really remove a ton of dry skin, this probably won’t be abrasive enough, but for an every-day or weekly use, it does the trick – this would be amazing for those with sensitive skin.
Body Mist ($10 CAD)
I was probably the most excited about this scent because of how unique it is – Mango, Tonka Bean & Chilli? What? It is literally the perfect summer scent – It’s fresh, fruity, sweet, and has a hint of the chilli spiciness as an undertone of fragrance. Like most body mists, it doesn’t last a super long time, but would be great to have in your purse for on-the-go freshness for when you need a little spritz of fragrance!
Bubble Bath ($16 CAD)
This is the PERFECT scent for Fall/Winter. It literally smells like cookie dough. Since I don’t really take bubble baths, I’ve been using this as a body wash, and it definitely suds up like crazy, so I imagine soaking in this is amazing! Also, the bottle is friggen huge, this will last forever!
Body Butter ($20 CAD)
This body butter feels SO indulgent – It’s so thick and creamy, perfect for those with dry skin. While the body lotion is thinner and absorbs quickly, this one really needs to be worked into the skin – probably best to use at night time so it can soak up into your skin. I’ve been using this primarily on my elbows and feet (since they get dry) and it’s seriously been a dream. Highly recommend, especially for the upcoming colder months.
